My younger sister and I have always had the kind of relationship where she says whatever is on her mind and then assumes everyone else will clean up the fallout. Last month she made a separate group chat with me and two friends where she spent an entire weekend roasting our cousin's engagement party. A week later, at a family dinner, my cousin asked why my sister had been distant. My sister immediately said, in front of everyone, that I had been the one making negative comments and that she was just trying not to get dragged into it. I froze. Nobody believed me when I denied it because my sister started crying and said I was trying to embarrass her.

That night I sent my cousin the screenshots. Now my parents say I escalated a private argument into a family war and should have handled it offline. My sister says I betrayed her trust, even though she was the one who lied first.
